Associate Jonathan Ingram To Pursue Public Service

We are sad to have to announce that our valued associate, Jonathan Ingram, left BorgerMatez on September 13th. Jack has decided to pursue a career in the public sector, namely, with the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender. We all greatly enjoyed Jack having been part of our office family. He is a very talented attorney who provided great value for our clients and assisted us immeasurably. We wish him the best in his pursuit of public service. Those whom he represents as an attorney with the Office of the Public Defender now will benefit from his many talents as an attorney. We all wish him well.

Jack Ingram Honored As Associate/Barrister of the Year

On June 18, 2019, our associate, Jack Ingram, was honored as the Associate/Barrister of the Year by the Thomas S. Forkin Family Law American Inn of Court. This award is given annually by the Inn to a member who has been in the practice of law for less than 10 years and who has made significant contributions and demonstrates dedication and commitment to the Forkin Inn of Court, the ideals and principals of the Inns of Court in general, and to the practice of family law in South Jersey. We are extremely proud of Jack.

NJAPM Annual Civil and Divorce Mediation Seminar

On Saturday, June 15th, Gary and Bruce participated in the NJAPM (New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators) Annual Civil and Divorce Mediation Seminar in Somerset, New Jersey.

The morning session was focused on building a successful mediation practice, using online services as a tool in mediations and ethical considerations of mediation.

During the afternoon session for divorce and family law, Bruce presented the case law update from the past year. The remainder of the afternoon sessions focused on parenting schedules and alimony now that it is no longer taxable under the new federal income tax code.

New Jersey Equal Justice Awards

On June 3, 2019, Gary Borger attended the Legal Services of New Jersey Equal Justice Awards program at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton (Mercer County), New Jersey that honored members of the judiciary, legislature, and bar who offered time and effort in assisting the needy members of our society in need of justice.

This wonderful event recognized those attorneys who have worked to make certain that everyone has equal access to the courts and to justice in the courts no matter their economic circumstances. That included many volunteer attorneys (such as the attorneys at BorgerMatez, P.A. who regularly offer their services to Legal Services of New Jersey to process divorces for those who can’t afford to hire and pay a private attorney).

Also recognized posthumously was former Robert N. Wilentz, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, who was an ardent supporter of the concept of equal justice for all and Robert Del Tufo, former New Jersey Attorney General and former New Jersey United States Attorney; Bonnie Watson Coleman, congressperson from the 12th Congressional District in New Jersey; and Loretta Weinberg, New Jersey Senate Majority Leader from the 37th Congressional District and a member of the Legislature for the past 27 years and who has championed civil rights in our state through supportive legislation that has recognized the importance of all citizens to equal access to justice and equal treatment under the law.

It was a great honor to be able to enjoy an evening honoring such great leaders of our state who have made life so much better for so many who are struggling just to make ends meet and hope for a better life for themselves and the next generation of our citizenry.
