Bruce Matez, Esquire attended the NJAPM seminar "Keeping the Peace through Elder and Estate Mediation." Bruce is expanding his mediation practice to include Elder Law issues and Estate cases (disputes over wills, powers of attorney, intestate estates, etc.) At this seminar, Bruce gained insight into the various issues that families involved in contested estate cases face as well as issues such medical care, living assistance, long term care, assisted living and nursing facilities, and other issues impacting upon our aging population and their families. Mediation is a viable and appropriate alternative to traditional litigation of such issues through the court system and can help preserve the familial relationships.

Gary Borger and Bruce Matez attended the IACP Institute in Phoenix from March 1-4. This was an exciting, invigorating and interesting experience. Gary attended a 2 day seminar on neuroscience and the brain and learned how the brain affects the way we behave in certain situations. This has provided him great insight into the way clients behave in the divorce process, and especially in the collaborative setting. Bruce attended a 2 day interactive workshop on advocacy in the Collaborative Divorce process. The interaction with other collaborative professionals and the information he received will prove to be invaluable to him in representing and advocating for clients in the collaborative divorce process and as he encourages people to choose the collaborative divorce process over the traditional method of divorce litigation.
