John A. Jones, Esq. - Biography
Areas of Practice:
The majority of Mr. Jones’s practice is devoted to all areas of Family Law. He has represented husbands, wives and domestic partners of both genders. He has extensive experience in complex divorces, custody and paternity matters, adoptions, disputed relocations, domestic violence actions and preparation of pre and post-nuptial and cohabitation agreements. He prepares basic wills, advanced directives (“living wills”) and powers of attorney.
Background:
Mr. Jones was granted a B.A. degree from Wesleyan University, Middletown,
Connecticut in 1964. In 1967 he received an L.L.B. (now J.D.) degree from Rutgers
University School of Law (Camden), where he was a member of the Law Review and
the founding Vice-Justice of the Frelinghuysen Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law
Fraternity. He is admitted to the bars of New Jersey (1967) and Washington D.C.
(1968), as well as the Supreme Court of the United States (1973), the U.S. District
Court for New Jersey (1967) and the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals (1982).
After a judicial clerkship with the Hon. Louis Goldman and the Hon. William Pascoe, Mr. Jones entered the practice of law in 1968. For the next 40+ years Mr. Jones has maintained an extensive Family Law practice. In addition, he has represented parties in Personal Injury claims (with jury trials for both plaintiffs and defendants), Real Estate (commercial and residential) and other areas of the law.
Mr. Jones received his training as a Mediator by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He mediates all aspects of court appointed and private Family Law matters.
Honors:
For many years, Mr. Jones has held the "A/V" Peer Review Rating by Martindale-
Hubbell, which evaluates lawyers in the United States and Canada. This is the
highest possible rating in legal ability and ethical standards. This rating reflects the
confidential opinions of attorneys and judges who have worked with Mr. Jones.
Professional Memberships:
Mr. Jones is a member of the American, New Jersey and Camden County Bar
Associations and the American Association for Justice (New Jersey).
He is a past member of the New Jersey District IV Ethics Committee. He is a
volunteer member of the Camden and Gloucester Counties Matrimonial Early
Settlement Panels and the Burlington County Family Court Economic Mediation
Program.
Personal Information:
Mr. Jones is a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of Reality House, Inc., a non
-profit substance abuse treatment program. He is a founding member of the Board
of Trustees of the Center For Family Services, Inc. (formed by a merger of Reality
House and two other social service agencies). He was a co-founder of the
Professional Athletes Service Corps, Inc. (Pro-Corps), which provided services to
professional football players, including contract negotiations.
Mr. Jones is married. He has two children and four grandchildren.
